Bill loaded many hundreds of large boxes with donated food for the less fortunate people.
Observation: Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to meet other volunteers, that
often have engaging, colorful tales to tell.

• Bill taught an innovative electronics course to a group of bright high school students
that had no other options while on an isolated military base in the Philippines.

• Bill voluntarily undertook 100% of the responsibility for teaching and developing the course material, including novel lab projects (using the extensive of electronic test instruments at the Air Force's PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory, where Bill worked).  Bill's students soldered and tested numerous analog and digital circuits, using a Bill's innovative, "physical circuits on annotated note cards" (Ink-drawn circuits with copper-tape-nodes on 4"x6" note cards).  All Bill's students learned very quickly because all theory and math lessons were immediately applied to realistic physical circuits that the students built themselves.  (In fact,
several of Bill's Air Force electronics specialist co-workers commented that "they wished that their schools had used Bill's techniques").

• Bill designed hardware and software to help deaf persons visually evaluate their speech quality in real-time.
His design concept was recognized with an award from Johns Hopkins University

Skills Transferable to Your Projects:
   Juggler Leadership / Management
• Bill furthered his leadership and interpersonal skills by participating in volunteer work.
Its interesting to note that motivating volunteer co-workers is similar to
motivating "matrixed" employees
(i.e. employees that directly report to other managers
).
